Who Was Muhammad?
Muhammad was a real mortal man who is the central prophet of his religion, but so was Jesus for Christianity/Catholicism.

Muhammad was the founder of the religion of Islam, and is regarded by Muslims as a messenger and prophet of Allah. He was born in 570 in Mecca and was orphaned at an early age. His uncle raised him and later on in life he worked mostly as a merchant, and a shepherd. Disconnected with life in Mecca he retreated to a cave in the mountains near Mecca where he meditated, and reflected. According to Islamic beliefs, it was at that cave at the age of 40 when Muhammad received his first revelation from Allah.
What we have here is a man who isolated himself in a cave in the mountains for a long time, turned insane and his imagination went wild.
(Below is a picture of the actual cave Muhammad retreated to and had his "revelation" from Allah)
Three years after he received revelations from Allah in the cave he began to preach publicly what he had learned, and proclaimed to be a messenger/prophet of Allah. Once again we are faced with a good man with a very large ego and a false sense of importance. He gained a few followers at first and created a few enemies from the nearby tribes who disagreed with his teachings. He united the tribes and conquered mecca, by then his number of followers had grown to over 10,000. By the year 632 Muhammad fell ill and died, but the verses which make up the Qur'an came from him and his revelations. He claimed to continue to receive revelations from the day in the cave until the day he died.
(Approximately 5.5 billion people refuse to follow the false teachings of Islam)
(Dome of the Rock was built on top of a stone from where Muhammad supposedly ascended into heaven to speak with Allah on a flying horse)

Similar to Jesus, Muhammad experienced a divine connection with his God and believed himself to be an important prophet. According to Islamic belief he also experienced a miraculous event by ascending into heaven on a flying horse to speak with Allah, and Allah supposedly provided him with even more revelations which have become the verses in the Qur'an. He is the central figure of Islam, just like Jesus is the central figure of Christianity/Catholicism, but his views and teachings are false fairy tales with no evidence to back them up.
